Invention:
This invention is for an accelerated, high-resolution T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) via modification of the three-dimensional magnetization-prepared rapid gradient echo (3D MP-RAGE) sequence. Through this modification, optimization is achieved by allowing for faster signal collection and shorter acquisition time with generation of optimal contrast. This advancement can significantly improve clinical workflow, reduce MRI scan cost per subject, and minimize movement artifacts and discomfort for subjects.
Background:
Three-dimensional magnetization-prepared rapid gradient echo (3D MP-RAGE) imaging is used to obtain T1-weighted MRI data in most MRI technologies. This imaging method provides specific visualization of gray and white matter for proper anatomical reference in clinical settings. These scans typically have an acquisition duration of approximately 5 minutes. This novel methodology offers a faster option by modifying the 3D MP-RAGE sequence that EPI waveforms to collect signals in less time.
Applications:
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- Medical imaging
Advantages:
- Improves clinical workflow
- Significantly reduced scan time
- Enhanced contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR)
- Reduced cost per subject
- Minimizes movement artifacts
- Reduces patent discomfort
