Virtual Reality Neuropsychological Assessment (VRNA) System

Case ID:
UA23-064
Invention:

This technology is a computerized neuropsychological assessment system to rapidly measure cognitive and behavioral abilities and impairments. This system operates by extracting multiple, simultaneous performance metrics while the patient is in a virtual reality (VR) game-like scenario. As the patient is playing this challenging VR video game, the VRNA System integrates inputs from multiple sensors with machine learning analysis. These inputs assess the various domains of real-time cognitive performance to provide a rapid, personalized assessment of neurocognitive status.

Background:
This innovation assists in the immediate assessment of cognitive performance metrics. This rapid assessment of cognitive status is not only personalized but provides AI-based neuro-psych evaluations for traumatic brain injury (TBI) and sports-related fields. This assessment can be performed as soon as possible instead of depending on transportation to other locations.

Applications:

  • Mobile rapid neuropsychological assessment
  • Monitoring of neurological effects of combat
  • Monitoring of PTSD
  • Neuro-psych evaluations for traumatic brain injury and sports-related fields

Advantages:

  • Can be used for PTSD assessment in non-veteran patients
  • Personalized assessment
  • Rapid assessment results
  • Portable, can be performed on site
