Invention:

University of Arizona researchers have invented a Holographic Digital Data Storage System (HDSS) that employs optical components to compensate for mechanical instability. This invention calculates errors introduced during the recording process, then compensates for those errors during the reading process.

 

Background:
Holographic Data Storage Systems (HDSS) have the potential for high-capacity, high-bandwidth data storage and transfer. However, these systems require tight tolerances to function properly. Vibrations within certain system components, like mirrors, can cause errors in the recording angle in the medium.
