Maximize Enhancement and Augmentation for Ultra-High Heat Flux Heat Exchange

Case ID:
UA24-109
Invention:

This invention provides a series of special designs to apply multiple jets for impingement heat exchange to have dramatically enhanced heat transfer and augmented heat transfer surface. Both high heat transfer coefficient and large heat transfer surface contribute to high heat transfer rate. Particularly for concentrating solar thermal receivers that have a very high heat flux due to concentrated sunlight, this technology can greatly improve their performance and safety during operation.

Background:
Traditional high heat exchangers are less efficient regarding their heat transference capabilities and would degrade quicker than this newly designed invention. This invention can help to save end user costs as this invention will endure the high temperatures for longer than the traditional high heat exchangers.

Applications:

  • Aerospace & defense
  • Chemical & petrochemical
  • Oil & gas
  • HVAC & refrigeration
  • Power generation
  • Concentrating solar thermal receiver

Advantages:

  • Greater efficiency
  • High heat resistance
  • More durable
  • Increased performance and safety in concentrated solar thermal receivers
  • End user cost savings
