Decision Support Logic for Pharmacogenomics

Case ID:
UA21-245
Invention:

This technology is a database of publicly available guidelines used in conjunction with medication recommendation algorithms. The technology is a clinical intervention support tool based upon Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC) guidelines. It leverages genomic information and accepted guidelines to deliver recommendations customized to an individual patient.

Background:
Pharmacogenomics is improving the way that patients can be treated by implementing the use of a patient’s individual genetics to predict how their body is likely to respond to therapeutics. This technology is designed to help clinicians understand how available genetic test results should be used to optimize therapeutic results.

Applications:

  • Precision medicine
  • Clinical decision support
  • Pharmacogenomic testing

Advantages:

  • Provides real-time recommendations
  • Improved prescription effectiveness and safety
  • Reduces costs for both providers and patients
