Artificially Intelligent Comprehensive Debriefing Assessment Tool (AICDAT)

Case ID:
UA25-175
Invention:

Artificially Intelligent Comprehensive Debriefing Assessment Tool (AICDAT) is an AI-based platform developed to evaluate debriefing sessions in scenario-based medical simulations (SBMS). By analyzing transcripts from these sessions using proprietary algorithms, AICDAT provides structured, individualized feedback. It scores across elements of debriefing such as educational technique, outcome quality, and coaching effectiveness. The tool delivers real-time or asynchronous evaluation results directly to facilitators, offering a consistent, time-efficient, and unbiased alternative to traditional manual assessments.

Background:
Current tools used for assessing how educators conduct debriefing sessions with healthcare students after scenario-based medical simulations (SBMS) typically involve another senior educator or facilitator observing or through a delayed video recording or using inventory or paper-based scoring sheets. These traditional methods are not only time-consuming but also lack scalability and consistency across evaluators. AICDAT addresses these issues by leveraging artificial intelligence to standardize evaluations, ensuring objective and repeatable assessments that align with SBMS goals such as skill development, patient safety, and professional training.

Applications:

  • Scenario-based medical simulations (SBMS)
  • Remote / asynchronous evaluation
  • Debriefing assessments

Advantages:

  • Individualized and objective evaluations
  • Direct feedback to individuals being evaluated
  • More efficient and consistent debriefing sessions
  • Enhanced quality of debriefing sessions
