Applying the Mixture of Fly Ash and Mine Tailings as Construction Materials

Case ID:
UA14-178
Invention:

Invention

The findings of the present work provide a novel method for geopolymerization of the mixture of mine tailings and fly ash.  This material can then be used in the making of construction products and materials. A protocol to make construction materials using the mixture of mine tailings and fly ash has been set up.

Applications

•       Construction materials

•       Bricks for Construction

•       Road Pavement

•       Pre-mixed concrete

Advantages

•       The product made from the proposed invention has a very high compressive strength (40~65 MPa), which is comparable or even stronger than that of concrete.

•       The curing time is much shorter than conventional concrete, about 3 days.

•       The product can withstand water soaking.  The product is more than 80% compressive even after a 30 day soaking.
