Medication Education, Decision Support, Reminding and Monitoring System (MEDSReM) consists of an app and a companion website that provide individuals with the continuous use of effective strategies that sustain the individual's adherence to antihypertensive medications.
Background:
With hypertension being the most common chronic disease among older adults, medication adherence is critical in order to avoid hypertension's possible effects, including strokes and end organ damage in the kidneys, retina and brain. Typically only 50% of patients adhere to their medication regimen. The app and website mentioned here support patient's and individuals in maintaining consistency in taking their antihypertensive medications.
