A Resistive Breathing Circuit for use in Lowering Blood Pressure

Case ID:
UA23-254
Invention:

This invention is a training application for breath training devices that guides the user through a five minute/day exercise regimen shown to lower peripheral vascular resistance and in turn, blood pressure. The simplicity and effectiveness offered by the daily sessions make this tool a practical solution for those aiming to manage their blood pressure naturally.

Background:
The global burden of hypertension is a growing health issue, with an estimated 1 billion people worldwide suffering from this condition. Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, including stroke, heart attack, and heart failure. Currently, many individuals rely on medication to manage their blood pressure. However, these medications can have side effects and may not be suitable for everyone. Non-pharmacological methods such as lifestyle modifications are recommended, but these require significant commitment and may not be sufficient for all patients. This invention offers an alternative and complementary approach to these traditional methods by utilizing the body's own respiratory mechanics to naturally reduce blood pressure, providing an accessible and effective tool for hypertension management.

Applications:

  • Respiratory training
  • Hypertension management

Advantages:

  • Natural way of lowering blood pressure and improving respiratory and heart health
  • Portable
  • Easy to use
  • Integrated training application provides a structured regimen, ensuring that users can maximize the benefits of the device
  • Non-pharmacological method
