Tunable Fluorescent Indolizine Tetracycles

Case ID:
UA22-051
Invention:

This technology is tunable fluorescent probes that are able to span the colors of the rainbow. The main benefit of this technology is that it can be prepared in only one or two steps; as opposed to the five to seven steps it would normally take. Not only is this technology quicker, but the cost of goods is also more reasonable and compares very favorably to similar products currently on the market.

Background:
Fluorescent dyes are very useful in many applications. Some of the most common industries include bioimaging and cell research. Currently, there are a few types of dyes on the market including BODIPY and Seoul-fluor dyes. However, they have a higher production cost and take longer to synthesize.

This technology is beneficial because of its unique ability to be synthesized in only two steps. Not only will this save a lot of time, but also a lot of money. The combination of saving time and money is only improved by its ability to create custom tunable fluorophores. Along with that, this technology helps to create fluorophores closer to the red-spectrum; a goal much more difficult to achieve if using the old, conventional methods.

Applications:

  • Bioimaging
  • ROS detection
  • Lysosome detection

Advantages:

  • Faster
  • Less expensive
  • Customizable
  • Helps create very difficult fluorophores
