Analytic System for Automated Prognostic Determination of Disease Risk from High-Resolution, Non-Invasive, Contrast-Free Retinal Images

Case ID:
UA21-250
Invention:

This invention describes a platform by which age-related macular degeneration (AMD) prognostic determinations can be made through high-resolution, non-invasive, contrast-free retinal images and diagnostic software.

Background:
Currently, the leading method of diagnosis or prognosis determination for not only age-related macular degeneration (AMD), but most diseases, is through conventional chemical and physician methods. Even with certain elements of this process being automated, this can cause for inefficiency and variation in the process.

It is proposed to develop a new analytic system by which prognostic determinations can be made of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in an automated manner utilizing high-resolution, non-invasive, contrast-free retinal images via retina-based optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Applications:

  • Automated system for AMD prognosis determination

Advantages:

  • Faster throughput
  • Will utilize large database to continuously reduce fluctuations and uncertainty
