High Temperature Ceramic Powder Systems

Case ID:
UA20-246
Invention:

This technology is a ceramic powder composition that includes Si, N, O, C, MG, B, and combination of different crystalline phases. These combinations have the potential to create a high temperature resistant and high strength ceramic product.

Background:
Ceramic coatings provide a thermal barrier and a layer of protection from corrosion on high heat. This practice has been used in various industries, but mainly in spacecraft, electronics, and automotive. Being able to control the mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties in the ceramic powder is very empowering in the ability to create ceramic parts that are high temperature resistant and high strength at high temperature.

With the increased usage of ceramic powder in various industry applications, there is a need to develop ceramic powder systems that can have higher strength at higher temperatures. This will increase the reusability and durability of material by providing higher performance.

Applications:

  • High temperature ceramic coating
  • Ceramic coating for exhaust systems
  • High temperature electronics
  • Spacecraft coatings
  • Hypersonic flight

Advantages:

  • High temperature resistant
  • High strength
