Invention:
This invention is a novel method for linking patterns from accelerometers to health and mortality problems by measuring fractal complexity.
Background:
Accelerometers are devices that measure proper acceleration and have multiple applications in different industries. Typically, accelerometers are found in devices that monitor and track physical activity for health-related purposes. The clinical utility of the information tracked by these devices is highly under-utilized. This invention uses de-trended fluctuation analysis (DFA) on raw data taken from wearable accelerometers to allow professionals and the public to monitor physiological health and mortality risk.
Applications:
- Accelerometer industry
- Health monitoring/tracking
- Behavioral health
- Exercise
Advantages:
- Measures fractal complexity
- Predicts health outcomes
- Non-invasive biomarker
- Tracks aging and mortality risk
