Self-Holding Travel Blankets

Case ID:
UA24-072
Invention:

The proposed invention is a self-holding travel blanket designed to enhance the comfort of long-haul economy class airplane passengers. Its key innovation lies in the incorporation of two adjustable strips on the back of the blanket that pass over the passenger's shoulders. These strips, available in three different forms (section, V-form, and U-form), ensure that the blanket stays securely in place, preventing it from slipping down during sleep. This design minimizes the inconvenience passengers often face when their blankets constantly fall off during long flights, leading to a more comfortable travel experience. Furthermore, the manufacturing process is straightforward and cost-effective, making it commercially competitive in the aviation industry.

Background:
Airplane passengers often have the discomfort and annoyance of blankets frequently slipping off during in-flight sleep. Traditional in-flight blankets are often small and/or flimsy and tend to need constant adjustment, which disrupts passengers’ sleep and overall travel experience. The newly designed travel blanket addresses issues of discomfort in a cost-effective and user-friendly manner, enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers.
