Entanglement Assisted Sensing and Radars with the Phase-Conjugation on Idler Photons

Case ID:
UA24-038
Invention:

This innovation is a concept suitable for various quantum sensing and radar applications. The proposed entanglement generation source and optical-phase conjugation modules are of low-cost and easy to integrate in photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technology. These quantum sensing modules and architectures are suitable for use in entanglement assisted (EA) sensing and radar applications. To improve the reliability over turbulent optical channel, researchers performed the Optical Phase Conjugation (OPC) on idler photons.

Background:
Phase conjugation of Signal Photons has been a requirement for quantum sensing technologies. Unfortunately, they are somewhat unreliable when transmitted over turbulent and noisy channels. This technology enhances previous work by the inventor in Free Space Optical (FSO) enhanced with entanglement via the use of idler photons to do Optical Phase Conjugation instead of the traditionally used Signal Photons. This is a more robust method as Idler photons are brighter and more resilient through FSO transmission.
