Invention:
This invention describes a non-opioid method to treat pain using a novel T-type calcium channel blocker.
Background:
Current treatments for many types of pain typically include opioid painkillers, which pose a significant risk of addiction and overdose in patients, creating a demand for a treatment with less risk and less side-effects. In neuropathic, inflammatory, and tonic pain conditions, low voltage-activated (LVA) T-type calcium channels are implicated as pain mechanisms and potential drug targets.
In this technology, the inventors propose the use of a novel pan T-type calcium channel modulator to block this effect and mediate relief of pain in patients.
Applications:
- Pain relief treatment for patients
Advantages:
- Non-opioid
- Validated mediation of pain relief
