Entanglement Assisted Communication with Optical Phase Conjugation on Transmitter Side

Case ID:
UA22-068
Invention:

Entanglement -Assisted (EA) Communication and Sensing has been advocated by numerous authors as a potential alternative to classical communications, in particular in noisy and low-brightness regime. This technology proposes an EA scheme employing the optical phase-conjugation (OPC) on transmitter side. It shows that the proposed EA communication system, with the transmitter side OPC, significantly outperforms its classical counterpart in low-brightness and highly noisy regime, while employing a classical coherent detection scheme for two-dimensional demodulation. Moreover, the capacity of the proposed EA scheme is significantly higher than EA repetition-BPSK, homodyne, heterodyne, and Holevo capacities. Finally, the proposed EA scheme outperforms the corresponding EA scheme with OPC placed on a receiver side.

Background:
The problem with quantum entanglement devices is that they are easily electromagnetically (meaning light, magnetism, etc) interfered with. It is particularly difficult for the transmitter (the sender of the signal) to send information to the receiver. This tech solves the problem using Optical Phase Conjugation: process where an incoming electromagnetic wave is reflected with a reversed phase, so called “time-reversal of electromagnetic waves,” allows cancellation of spatial distortion introduced into the incoming beam.Think of it as a way to outright screen off static. This communication is being investigated by NASA and other large entities could disrupt the current transmitter markets.

Applications:

  • Secure communication
  • Increase current communication capacity

Advantages:

  • Outperforms all other methods in cleaner communication
